Codling Wind Park
Hardware and Office Fit Out
Overview
Codling Wind Park is a proposed offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea, approximately 13-22 kilometres off the County Wicklow coast, between Greystones and Wicklow Town. With an expected capacity of up to 1,500 megawatts (MW), the project represents one of the largest energy infrastructure investments in Ireland this decade. Codling Wind Park is a 50:50 joint venture between EDF Renewables and Fred. Olsen Seawind.
Challenge
Codling Wind Park were looking for an IT partner to help them establish a physical presence in Ireland. They already had some staff on the ground but wanted to procure office space and needed an IT Partner for all their technology office fit-out needs. HCS were presented with a list of requirements to consider and to outline the costs involved.
Solution
Using our network of partners, HCS composed a response to the requirements as laid out by Codling Wind Park and offered a few options. It was a challenging time for hardware procurement as the pandemic had led to supply constraints, but with perseverance HCS managed to come up with workable solutions to meet all needs.
The project included commissioning enterprise broadband, a Fortinet 80F Next Generation Firewall, Fortinet switching & Wi-Fi, a network MFP Copier. It included two Yealink Microsoft Teams Room Video Conferencing Systems and then also 35 new sit/stand workstations with adjustable desk mounted dual screen arms, Dual 4K Screens, 4K Docks with 100w Power Delivery (for single cable connections), Wireless keyboard & Mice.
Benefits
HCS liaised with the Codling Wind Park management team and one of their partners’ (EDF Renewables) IT teams and selected the best equipment that we were sure we could secure. Through focused management of the project, HCS were able to secure delivery of the equipment well in advance of the target move in date.
HCS then worked closely with fit-out companies to co-ordinate the installation works in time for the Codling Wind Park team to occupy the new offices. HCS provided a resource to assist staff with demonstration of the solutions to help them get up and running as quickly as possible. Codling Wind Park also requested an ongoing support contract for localised IT Support that would sit alongside and complement their partner’s IT team.
We needed to get up and running quickly in Ireland. HCS helped us immensely with all our IT needs from licencing to hardware. They were responsive and easy to work with and we trust them to manage our IT as we continue to grow.
