Supporting The K Club’s Growth with a Scalable IT Framework
The K Club is one of Ireland’s most prestigious luxury resorts, set across 550 acres in the Co. Kildare countryside. With five‑star accommodation, championship golf courses, a Michelin‑star restaurant, spa facilities and a constant flow of high‑profile guests, the resort operates as a complex, always‑on business where reliability and security are critical.
When new ownership set out to futureproof the estate, HCS was chosen as a trusted partner to design and deliver a resilient IT foundation to support long‑term growth.
The problem
Following a change in ownership in 2020, The K Club recognised that its existing IT infrastructure would not support its ambitions for growth or the demands of a 24/7 luxury operation.
As a 24/7 business system availability was essential, any downtime could directly impact guest experience and business operations.
The scale of the estate, with multiple buildings spread across hundreds of acres, added further complexity to managing and securing the network.
The solution
HCS engaged with The K Club in June 2020 to develop an IT roadmap that would stabilise,and modernise the environment. The first step was migrating critical line‑of‑business applications from ageing servers onto a new Dell cluster, improving performance and resilience.
To strengthen business continuity, HCS implemented both onsite and offline backups alongside a disaster recovery solution. Multifactor authentication was rolled out across all Microsoft Windows accounts to further protect access to systems and data.
The network was then comprehensively reviewed. Legacy data cabling was replaced with new fibre across the estate, a significant undertaking given the size of the site. Once in place, HCS deployed Fortinet Next Generation Firewalls, switches and Wi‑Fi, all centrally managed through the Fortinet Security Fabric, providing full visibility, control and protection across the entire network.
The support provided by HCS as a dedicated business partner gives us so much peace of mind that having a 24/7 business that is operating constantly we need to make sure that our systems are up over 99% of the time and HCS give us that support on a regular basis.
